As the owners of the Grand Manse building in downtown Lincoln, we take great pride in restoring the building to its original integrity. When it came time to renovate the east wing of the 4th and 5th floors into our personal home, the decision to pick the best contractor for the job was definitely not easy. We did not have an endless budget, but also knew we did not want to cut any corners and needed a builder who would not only stay on budget, but produce a great product. Tru-Built presented a very detailed proposal and we went into the project feeling like we knew exactly what to expect.

While the job was extensive and only came together due to an excellent team, Steve kept the job going every day. The jobsite was always clean which was important as we would bring tours through during the entire construction process. The finished product is more than we could have ever imagined, from matching the original 1904 base and casing, to the new atrium by Lancaster Conservatories, the blend of old with new is done flawlessly.

Lisa and I would recommend Steve and the Tru-Built team to anyone. We have continued to use them for other projects within the Grand Manse building an also in other commercial properties. Their open line of communication and always honest approach has proven to be their greatest asset.

Let me preface this complementary letter by stating that before undertaking the project of building and putting on the air a new radio station I swore I would never build a house. After deciding on Tru-Built Construction to design and build my dream, I have a change of heart.

Dear Steve,

We just wanted to let you know again what a terrifiic experience we had working with Tru-Built on our basement finish project. Throughout the project we found you and Dave to be very responsive to all of our questions and concerns. you both were always willing to explanin our options at each step in the process and to provide an honest view of the pros and cons of each of the various options.

In the Fall of 2010 my wife and I purchased an acreage outside of Lincoln with the intent of building a barn and eventually a new home. Through contacts with former Tru-Built employees we became aware of Tru-Built Construction and Bo Jones.

Our original intent was to have Tru-Built build the barn only and have a couple of higher end builders bid on the construction of our home. Upon completion of the barn we were so impressed with the results that we decided to consider Tru-Built for the home construction as well. We love our barn and think it looks and feels great on our property.

After interviewing several big name builders we felt much more at ease with Bo and his style. We made the decision to go with Tru-Built based in part because of their good relationships with proven subcontractors that we were familiar with and have good reputations in Lincoln. The quality of the subs used was important to us. For the most part we were impressed with the quality of workers on the site. On the design side, Bo was more then willing to work with the drafting person and the designer we had chosed out of Omaha. He went above and beyond to meet the design needs.

In addition to Bo, our house would not be what it is today without the help of Tru-Built's in house designer Melissa Fisher. Melissa spent a great deal of time on our project and was instrumental in the final look of our interior. She was a surprise to the process and brought many ideas to the table we incorporated into our home.

For us, the end results met our dreams and expectations. We are very happy with the final product Tru-Built was able to deliver and felt good about our decision. While the process was not without frustrating moments, we were satisfied with Tru-Built and felt they worked hard to meet our needs.

It is my pleasure to take a moment and commend Steve with Tru-Built and his team for their performance on the projects they have completed for us. Several years ago we were introduced to Tru-Built as a referral from another contractor. At that time we had a remodeling project that involved demolition and rebuilding of bathroom and hallway areas. Since then we have had Tru-Built perform many projects for our facilities.

Working with Tru-Built we know that the project will be done quickly with minimal interruption to our daily functions and that the area will be cleaned every day before they leave. Their employees and subcontractors are courteous and have not been the cause of any concern.

We have based our projects on a cost plus fee basis in which Tru-Built will come in and give us an estimate for the work to be performed and then give us the flexibility to change items as they present themselves. Their invoicing is straight forward, easy to understand, and we don't get charged with expensive change orders. I have never felt taken advantage of.

Deck and Siding Project Completed in 2011

Bo, just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you again for the excellent workmanship done by both the deck and siding crews in 2011.

We have had many compliments on the Deck and the customized iron railing. We can't wait to use it even more in the year ahead. It is nice to be able to go out on the deck and not feel it "move" anymore. It is one piece of SOLID construction. And it will be nice not to have to replace the old wooden boards going forward.

The siding looks awesome. And the attention to details that Dennis and his crew had were very much appreciated. The house looks amazing! And while the winter hasn't been as tough as it is normally, we don't "hear" the wind whipping outside like we used to with the old siding. I'll be anxious to see what the energy bills are when the concrete siding is "tested" with normal NE winter. I think we'll be much happier.

Lastly, I want to thank you for working with us and the multiple stipulations we requested like working around our pets and of course–the baby bird nest under the deck. We appreciate you meeting those requestst along with others and your responsiveness as well as availability.

When my family and I recently decided to build a new home, we knew that this was a decision that had to be taken very seriously. We spent many hours researching local area builders. We looked at their past projects of course, but we also took into account the knowledge and enthusiasm that they brought to the table.

Bo Jones and Tru-Built Construction were the perfect fit.

Bo took time out of his busy schedule to meet personally with us to identify our needs, and plan for this giant project, even before we actually had decided on our builder. My wife and I were having difficulties deciding on the design of our foundation, and Bo would call or text us with creative ideas on how to meet our challenges.

When we determined that Bo and Tru-Built would be our home builders, Bo was also quite flexible in price structuring. He was determined to customize the project to best fit our particular situation.

During the construction process, Bo and Tru-Built spent time with all four of our family members, finding ways to make our dream house special to each on of us. Bo frequently would update us on upcoming decisions, and allow the appropriate family member to contribute to the project.

During the early phases of the construction, Bo gave us detailed estimates on the time schedule, and on the estimated final costs. Bo and I met regularly to brainstorm ways to keep on schedule and on budget. Bo was extremely successful in keeping the project running smoothly. He estimated before we even started building that the home would be done by Christmas, and sure enough, my family spent Christmas Eve in our new home!

Bo Jones and Tru-Built met and exceeded every expectation that our family had in regards to building our new home, and I would enthusiastically recommend Tru-Built to any potential home builders.

During the planning stages, Bo Jones was very helpful, providing ideas and drawings to help us decide what we wanted. He was good at giving different options and cost estimates for each. I had the fortunate experience of meeting Adam at the 2006 Home Show in Omaha. I liked their product and had them bid against another company. By the end of the decision process, it was both their price and knowledgeable proposal that won them the job.

I could not be happier that I had selected them. My room addition was custom, providing both up front challenges and mid-project changes. Adam and Bo discussed each issue with me and provided cost impact estimates which were all honored, despite additional increases which they experienced. The details of their craftsmanship are absolutely phenomenal, and the finished job is gorgeous. I have a cathedral ceiling with beaded oak panels within the Mahogany rafters that is simply breath taking. The ceiling fans splash light up to really accentuate the beauty. The wood flooring and finish trim is all finished to perfection.

They poured footings in sand, extremely deep since my area is in a flood plane and over a patio which required 40 inches below the near grade. They continued the construction to the roof complete with custom gutters. They stayed on the job until every nit pick was resolved. Being an engineer, I doubt they get many customers more fussy, but they absolutely resolved every issue to 100% satisfaction.

We love our conservatory and are open to show it to anyone considering such. Furthermore, we can not express the professionalism experienced by this crew. Bo and his staff get my highest recommendation.

Following a major internal remodel of our home, my wife and I decided an appropriate finishing touch would be the demolition of our prior deck and reconstruction of a new sunroom/conservatory and a new deck. We "shopped" and received quotations from all the normal places including those sunroom manufacturers you often see advertised in the Omaha World Herald. Following a referral we received from my boss to Lancaster Conservatories, we contacted Bo and Adam to visit with us personally. The rest, as they say, is history.

From the moment we met these two young entrepreneurs, we recognized the value both they and their fine product bring to the table. The beauty and comfort of our new sunroom and deck was just the "icing on the cake" of the overall value proposition we received from Lancaster.  Most every detail right from the start including the filing of permits with the county right up to tending to the limited items on the punch list was handled professionally, courteously, and timely by Bo, Adam and their crew. Coming out of a major remodel with MANY spits and starts and lack of follow up from our contractor, we were prepared for what we thought was "typical" of any construction contractor. Bo, Adam and their team proved us wrong many times and in many ways. They were always there when they said they would be there, were never "in the way" of our day to day life were courteous and professional, and delivered their product on time and on budget. There were a couple of "hiccups" but frankly, they were minor and both Bo and Adam were right there to take responsibility and provide immediate solutions.

Our room and deck is beautiful. We have had more people in the neighborhood stop by and admire our room as it is so "above the norm" and not at all ordinary. It is not the gathering place for all company as it is so inviting and homey. Thus, when I compare the price we paid in comparison to what you typically see advertised in other places, and when I consider the overall value, we truly got our money's worth. Yes, the price may be only slightly higher than ordinary sunrooms, but this in not an ordinary room and we would do it all over again especially considering the professionalism of these young men and their team. They truly are customer focused and care about the product they are delivering.

My wife Beverly and I had Tru-Built Construction and Steve Powell renovate our kitchen recently and we were impressed and amazed at the quality of workmanship and the little amount of time it took them to accomplish the task.

The old kitchen was taken down to the studs and ceiling joists and completely re-done with new cabinets, floor, walls, ceiling and counter tops and back splash and lighting. They helped in the design and choices of cabinets, tile, etc. They made it so easy.

Every day at quitting time the work area was cleaned up very well and responded if there was a problem upon completion.

It has just been a few weeks since Lancaster Conservatories with Tru-Built Construction completed our family/sun room. Our only wish is that we had done it sooner! We comment often that it has completely changed our home and we are enjoying it more then ever. Neighbors have visited and always tell us it looks like it was built originally with the home. They also comment they would live in the room all the time.

I first met Bo Jones at the Home Show in Lincoln last spring and took the Lancaster Conservatories brochure home to my husband as we had been talking about adding a room. Our home needed additional family room space, yet we wanted to enjoy our backyard as much as possible. A room with a fireplace, and an open feel that didn't have to be closed off during the cold weather was our wish. We had minimal experience with building or even planning such a project. Adam helped us plan the project. We now have a family room with a cathedral ceiling, stone fireplace, oak flooring, and beautiful mahogany windows overlooking our backyard. The deck is large and inviting. We look forward to using it this spring. We were fortunate to find Lancaster Conservatories. From start to finish they were there to answer all questions, help us with details, direct us in the right direction, and even let me "change plans" as we went along. I was concerned that I didn't have the expertise of a designer, yet wanted it to be "our plans". Steve and Jared included us in every decision as we progressed with the room. Fortunately, with their expertise we feel we have the end result we wanted.

We have had many friends who built their own homes and often say they wouldn't choose to go through the process again. We can honestly say we would look forward to building with this company again. Our project started in August , a time when you should have only the heat to slow progress. The very day they dug the footings the rain began. I thought it would delay everything. They were there the next morning with pumps and continued the project. The next major rain occurred the day they laid the sub flooring. It poured for several hours that evening. We received phone calls from both Bo and Adam checking on the project and making sure it was draining properly as we also had just had an egress window dug next to the room. Finally after several hours of pouring rain we decided to at least sweep some of the water off the flooring. We had just begun sweeping when Steve appeared around the back of the house in the dark to check on everything and took over. We have heard of frustrated homeowners who felt they were left to deal with the problems, after that we knew we were in good hands.

We can highly recommend Lancaster Conservatories and Tru-Built Construction. The room added value to our home, but most important we feel we are now enjoying it to the fullest.

I have been meaning to do this for quite a while. Please pardon me for being so late.

First of all, Jill and I would like to thank you and your staff for the wonderful addition to our home. The money was well spent and I have told several others about the quality of your work.

When we fist decided to add a multi-season room to our home, I spent a great deal of time evaluating several different vendors. All of the products were mostly expensive low grade metal and glass. Extra, hidden, costs made the purchase prohibitive. Another major concern was that there was that the unit would be poorly attached to the house and caulked seams.

Your business was recommended by an acquaintance so I had you shoot me a price. The rest is history. Not only was your price competitive we also gained a permanent, beautiful, wood frame attachment to the house. Guests have commented that the addition looks like it belongs on the house when compared to a metal and glass room.

For the benefit of others who may be considering a contract with you, I would like to offer the following comments:

1) Your contract is clear as to expectations concerning your company and customer.

2) We were able to design something we wanted to stay within our budget.

3) Your product has an insulated 2×6 frame.

4) It sets on a proper foundation with footings.

5) There were no surprises such as cost overruns.

6) We were given the option to do some of the finish work.

7) Once the job was finished, everything was cleaned up.

My wife Angie and I would like to recommend Jared Muth and Tru-Built Construction to anyone looking to start a home improvement project. Our plans began last summer when we decided it was time to finish our basement. I contacted Jared to give us a bid on an Egress Window. He came by, walked us through the project and created a time frame we could expect results. The finished product was great and it really motivated Angie and me to move forward on the rest of the basement project.

At the time it was our plan to do most of the work ourselves, and to his credit, Jared did not intervene. He simply gave us some advice, and said if we needed anything just to call and he would help in any way he could. Shortly thereafter, my wife and I found out we were expecting our 2nd child and our time frame to finish the basement was pushed forward. We knew we were going to need more help. We called Jared, and he put a bid together that was very competitive and completely transparent. Jared walked us through exactly what to expect, and assured us he would take care of the whole project.

Just a couple months later our basement is finished and it looks phenomenal. Jared even helped me install my Plasma TV and audio system. The final numbers were extremely close to the projected bid, and we even made some changes along the way. It’s with great pleasure that I recommend Tru-Built Construction Co. for your home renovation. This is the second time we’ve had Tru-Built work on our home and we have been very satisfied both times. In May of 2007 we had our Master Bathroom completely gutted and replaced with a beautiful cabinet, a granite countertop, Onyx shower and a tile floor. We are very pleased with the finished product and enjoy it every day.

The end of October 2009, Tru-Built started our kitchen renovation. Seven weeks later and were back in the kitchen. We had a wall between a dining room and the kitchen removed and then the entire room gutted. We replaced our old cabinets with beautiful Cherry cabinets topped off with crown molding, oak wood floors, beautiful quartz countertops and wonderful lighting.

Having the correct kitchen layout is such a huge benefit. Before the remodel I didn’t have a lot of usable cabinets. Now my kitchen has floor to ceiling cabinets with pull out drawers for dishes, pots & pans and more storage than I hope to ever fill. The room is so much more usable and seems so much larger. I love everything about my new kitchen and so far I haven’t come across anything that I would have changed.

The workmanship that went into the kitchen is very good. The construction workers were always very pleasant to work with and cleaned up after themselves every day. Working with Steve Powell was a real pleasure.

We also had our deck replaced with a composite decking and metal railings. We made the new deck larger than our old one and I think we are really going to appreciate the new size when it comes to arranging our patio furniture & grill. We can’t wait until spring when we can start using the deck.

Instead of having one of the smallest kitchens on our block, we now have a very roomy, well designed, beautiful kitchen that we love.

I would like to take a moment and recommend Jared Muth and Tru-Built Construction on installing new windows. Jared took the time to come out and explain the windows and take measurements for the bid. He answered any questions we had about the windows or installation process and had no pressure on if we wanted to go with the windows or not. Once we decided what we wanted and have him the approval, the process went along very smoothly and without any hidden costs. In contrast to many who describe their home construction experience as a nightmare, we look back on the construction of our home by Tru-Built Construction as an enjoyable experience. We first met Steve Powell at the Home & Garden Show in 2007. Two things impressed us at the time. First was the dedication to the quality of his workmanship. Second was his open and honest opinion on the options that would be best for us.

Initially, we discussed with Steve the idea of Tru-Built Construction doing an extensive remodel on our current home. After evaluating the pros and cons of building an addition and discussing our vision of the “ideal home” we moved into the idea of building a custom home. Steve stuck with us for two years while we purchased a lot, mulled over home plans, and sold our home. It wasn’t until the summer of 2009 that we actually started building.

We had a great experience working with Tru-Built Construction. It was our first home building project and Steve patiently guided us through the process and responded to all our questions. He even took the time to look at lots and visit open houses with us and our 2 children to search for ideas as well as meet with our architect several times. The time Steve spent with us in advance allowed us to have a clear plan and finish on schedule. He spent extra time offering creative ideas, such as using real stone on our fireplace and putting a storm shelter under our porch. At no time did we ever feel we were just another customer that needed to be rushed through the building process.

We thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of our association wit him from the planning, through the construction phase and now during the post construction phase. As per our initial impression, Steve was a pleasure to work with and was very willing to make any changes that we requested.

Throughout the process of building our home, we were impressed time and time again by Steve’s integrity, honestly and commitment to quality work. He is actively involved with his homes and was available whenever we had a question, day or night. He continually went above and beyond making sure we were satisfied.
